EVENT HUB
Welcome to the official event page for the 2025 Canadian Functional Fitness National Championships, hosted alongside the Functional Fitness League Super Playoffs happening July 19-20 at the PNE Forum in Vancouver, BC and TeamLDN Training Center in London, Ontario. This is your one-stop hub for athletes, teams, volunteers, brand partners, media, and spectators.
About…
-
The National Championship events are run by the Canadian Functional Fitness Federation—the official National Sport Organization (NSO) operating under the International Functional Fitness Federation (IF3). These events serve to qualify the top 3 athletes in each division for the IF3 World Championships:
To minimize travel costs and ensure the best athletes across Canada qualify (not just from the East or West), we are running the same competition simultaneously in two locations, using a shared leaderboard.
-
While this is our first large-scale Nationals event since COVID, the CFFF Board and Nationals Committee are made up of experienced Functional Fitness event organizers, coaches, and internationally trained Technical Officials. The team last ran the 2022 IF3 Maters & Junoirs national championships at the Richmond Oval, which saw over 450 athletes travel in from around the world, and it was a huge success.
Our mission is to use this event to increase awareness of Functional Fitness as a sport in Canada, which is a key step toward unlocking Sport Canada government funding. This funding will allow us to deliver consistent, high-quality events for years to come, and without relying on private companies or donations, ensuring that athletes experience and safety can remain our top priority.
Though attendance at this event may not top 400+ athletes like we hope, we’re looking at it as the jumping off point for multiple years of this event to grow from utilizing the same date and locations for years to come.
-
For the first time ever, the Functional Fitness League (FFL) is combining multiple season playoffs into one big multi-day event, hosted alongside the CFFF National Championships. The FFL will provide the team competition for Rx and Scaled teams, while the CFFF manages the competitive individual event.
Teams are encouraged to participate in an FFL season prior to the event, as their season ranking will count as "Event/Workout 1" at playoffs, provided all four athletes on the team competed in at least one season match. Teams that do not take part in a season are still welcome to join playoffs only, but will start one score behind. (Don’t worry, with a minimum of six scored events, there’s plenty of time to catch up!)
This is your chance as an athlete of any level to throw down on the big stage alongside some of Canada’s top individuals. You won’t want to miss it!
-
Since Functional Fitness is not yet as big out west, our WEST event will be co-hosted by the Functional Fitness League who will also be running their 2025 seasons Super Playoff event for teams of 2M+2F.
The FFL has been running for over a decade bringing recreational ‘beer league’ type competition to affilaites all over British Columbia. Typically the seasons end with a single all day playoff event, but this year we’re running a multi day multi season playoff alongside the CFFF National Championships.

For those less competitive who are interested in throwing down on the same floor as some of Canada’s best athletes - the Functional Fitness League will be hosting their multi season Super Playoffs during the CFFF event!
FFL Teams are 2M+2F and have divisions for every level (scaled / Rx). Workouts are always tailored to ensure that everyone can take part, while still being challenging for the top athletes.
Taking part in playoffs does NOT require you to have done a season - but you’ll come in with a (slight) advantage if you do!
-
We rely on volunteers (including our entire board) to make these events happen.
We have opportunties to volunteer at the upcoming events for half days (7AM-1PM or 12PM - 7PM), full days, or the full weekend at EITHER location.
We will provide food, shirts, and front row seats to the action to everyone who volunteers for at least one shift.

As a non profit organizaiton, our primary focus is on creating the sport that Functional Fitness athletes deserve. Unfortunately, as a non profit, getting word about this out is our biggest challenge. Please see the attached letters from CFFF President Simon Damborg which are tailored to Athletes, Affiliate Owners, or Brands explaining our goals and how you can help.
We are always looking for more volunteers to join our committees or our board, and help us shape the future of Functional Fitness in Canada, and internationally under the International Functional Fitness Federation. If you’re interested in getting involved, please check-out our committees and apply to join.
We are also looking to train Technical Officials (judges) across Canada and to provide them as a resource for ALL FF competitions. If you’re interested in becoming a Nationally and Internationally trained and recognized TO, please read more below or begin your TO1 training today.
Why Technical Officials are the Backbone of Functional Fitness (and how to become one)
Competition FAQ
This will be kept updated as questions come in. If you have any questions (or feedback) contact info@functionalfitnessfederation.ca.

Our goal s the NSO for Canadian Functional Fitness is to ensure the best talent available qualifies to represent Canada at the IF3 World Championships.
We know that expecting athletes to travel across the country and then travel to worlds is a lot to ask, so we’re running 2 locations to alleviate travel costs as much as possible.
We are utilizing a shared leaderboard because we do not want this to be a ‘west vs east’ competition. Typically events would give spots to the top 1-2 east and top 1-2 west, but we want to ensure its the top 3 from either that go on to the next stage.
-
Scores for each event will not go live on the leaderboard until both locations have completed all heats of that event. This way nobody will have an advantage being able to see times to beat etc from the other time domains.
This also means we will not be able to announce final winners until both events have fully wrapped up.
-
In our WEST event - yes! You can register as a ‘non competitive’ athlete which will allow you to be on the floor and completing the same workouts - you just won’t be eligible to continue on to the next stage.
At our EAST event - no. Since we have limited space at this event our focus is purely on athletes who have qualified via one of our qualifiers or Quebenc pronvincials, or via direct invite based on prior competition performance.
-
The $15 / year annual athlete membership is required to take part in any and all CFFF sanctioned events. This nominal fee goes towards our non profit to help us grow and develop the sport. If you have registered for a membership via cfff.fit - it should auto renew annually through stripe (unless you disabled it).
Please note: membership purchases (via stripe) always show they are from BCFFSA, ignore this. That was the account it was originally set up under, and the banks make it very hard to change (payment still goes to CFFF).
FFL atheltes do NOT require a membership to compete (but we encourage your support).
-
Don’t hesitate to contact us and we will provide anwers and updates as quickly as possible.
